Full course description
Students in this course will learn and practice the process of sterile compounding by demonstrating aseptic techniques within legal and regulatory guidelines specified by USP 797 and USP 800 standards. Emphasis on aseptic techniques will be used in proper handwashing, hood cleaning, large and small volume parenteral preparation, and hazardous drugs. Students will perform calculations required for sterile product preparation and learn safe handling of sterile products. The Sterile Products course is approved by NPTA and accredited by ACPE.
To enroll in one of the specialty courses, you must be a Pharmacy Technician student or Registered Pharmacy Technician. A valid NABP (National Association of Boards of Pharmacy) number and RPT license number are required. *RPT license number for FL residents only.
The textbook required for this course is “Sterile Products and Aseptic Techniques” for Pharmacy Technicians 2nd Edition, by Mike Johnston. Textbooks can be purchased from Amazon.
