Full course description
Students in this course will learn and practice the process of non-sterile compounding by demonstrating a hands-on approach to mixing and weighing various formulations within legal and regulatory guidelines specified by USP795 standards. Emphasis on the proper weighing and preparation of powders, creams, ointments, liquids, capsules, and troches. Students will perform calculations required for non-sterile product preparation and learn proper documentation of non-sterile compounding. The Non-Sterile Compounding course is approved by NPTA and accredited by ACPE.
To enroll in one of the specialty courses, you must be a Pharmacy Technician student or Registered Pharmacy Technician. A valid NABP (National Association of Boards of Pharmacy) number and RPT license number are required. *RPT license number for FL residents only.
The textbook required for this course is “Compounding”, by Mike Johnston. Textbooks can be purchased from Amazon. Contact the campus for more information.
